Amityville Junior League 2026 College Essay Scholarship
RULES
Please read carefully. You must meet all the requirements below to be eligible to participate in the college essay competition. Good luck and thank you for participating!
Applicant must be a high school senior and reside within the Amityville School District.
Applicant may attend a public or private school.
The deadline for this competition is Spring 2026. All required materials must be submitted, and online submissions must be dated no later than April 28th, 2026.
Winner will be chosen and notified in the Spring of 2026.
ESSAY QUESTION
“Describe a community you belong to (cultural, academic, geographic, or interest-based). How has it shaped your identity and your sense of responsibility to others? ”
In 750 words or less, write a college level essay answering the above question. Times New Roman Font 12. PDF files will only be accepted.

The 1st and 2nd place Scholarship winner(s) will be chosen by a committee comprised of the members of the Junior League of the Amityville Women’s Club. The college level essay will be judged on its response to the question presented; the strength of argument/s to support position; organization and presentation of arguments; style and creativity; and spelling/grammar. If you are the winner, you will be notified on May 19th, 2026. The 1st place winner will receive a scholarship prize of $1,500 and 2nd place winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship prize to be used solely for the continuing education of the winning applicant. The winner will receive the prize directly to use for any of their college needs, e.g.: tuition, room and board, travel expenses.
